2013 Memorial Day Parade

Scouts of Pack 48 joined with other Packs and Boy Scout Troops to march in this year’s Stamford Memorial Day Parade. This year’s parade culminated with the dedication of the Homer Wise Statue in Veterans Park on Atlantic Street in downtown Stamford. Veterans from all of the armed force branches were in attendance paid tribute Sunday to the late World War II veteran Homer Lee Wise,  the city’s only Medal of Honor winner,  dedicating a statue of Wise. Morton Dean,  former CBS and ABC news anchor and Paul Bucha,  Medal of Honor recipient in 1968,  were among the speakers at the event,  organized by fellow veteran James Vlasto.

Webelos WOW Weekend

Some the Webelos I and Webelos II members of Pack 48 attended the Webelos “WOW”  Weekend. They participated in an educational and fun overnight at Hoyt Reservation in Redding,  CT on May 18 –19,  2013.
Scouts had the opportunity to earn activity badges and belt loops. Our scouts learned about knot tying,  camping,  forestry,  geocaching,  fire building and cooking in an open fire,  readyman first aid,  BB gun safety and target shooting. They also participated in a campfire and storytelling. This is one of the best weekend for Webelos!

Webelos I Bridging Ceremony

Webelos I have completed the requirements for their Webelos badge and have bridged over to the Webelos II program. They are in the home stretch of achieving their “Arrow of Light” badge and in they are in their 5th year in Cub Scouting. After nest year they will be able to bridge to the Boy Scouts. The scouts below who Bridged to Webelos II are Steve Garst,  Sam Harris,  Seth Patchett,  Gregory Mortensen,  and Stephen Wong. Colin Richmond was not in attendence but has also acheived his Webelos badge.
