Bear Den visits the Railroad Museum of New England

On October 18,2009,the Bear Den took a ride on the Naugatuck Railroad and visited the Railroad Museum of New England.  It was a cold, rainy day,but our visit was made extra special due to the personal guidance of Mr. Dana Hunt,an avid volunteer at the railroad and also an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 11 in Stamford!  He essentially provided our Bears with a back-stage pass to the railroad!

The weather didn’t stop us from having a great time exploring the railroad and the amazing maintenance shop along the way.  The train stopped exclusively for the Bears two times…once to disembark at the shed, and another time to pick us up after our visit.  Really neat!

The boys got to explore a diesel locomotive,a Pullman train car under restoration,a caboose, see an enormous locomotive engine and it’s associated parts, and of course, ride the rails!

Please view our photo gallery to see the sights from that day!
