Pack 48 Builds-a-Bear for Charity! 350 of them!

The Bears building bears!

Wow!  What a way to start the new year.  The boys and families of Pack 48,in order to “do a good turn”in honor of the 100th year of Scouting, decided to give back to the community in a big way.

If you’ve been following our posts, you’ll know that the boys spent the end of last year gathering pledges for our January Hit-a-Thon at Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy in Springdale.  The Hit-a-Thon was a huge success, not only in terms of fun,but in terms of money raised!  It is estimated that the boys were able to raise nearly $6000 for our selected charity:The Stamford Police Rescue Bear program.

But the boys didn’t stop there!  They didn’t simply hand over a check, they decided to take it all the way and build the bears by hand at the Build-a-Bear Workshop in the Trumbull Mall.  Over a period of about 4 hours, the boys and their families did their best to build as many bears as possible.  They ended up building about 350 bears that will be donated to the Stamford Police Department.

Nearly all the bears were marked with a note indicating that they were “Built By:Pack 48”.  But each and every bear was built knowing that it would someday ease a child’s burden during a difficult time.

Please enjoy some photos from that productive morning!
